Sea routes are returning: Bar will reconnect with Italy and Albania in the 2025 season
An updated sea service between the coastal city of Bar and the Italian port of Bari will start in early July. And from July 8, the Ancona–Bar–Durres line will be added to the routes. These innovations are part of the strategy for the resumption and development of international maritime transport, which Barska plovidba has been actively working on in recent months.
According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chazim Alkovic, the Bar –Bari route will be serviced by the new Dalmacija vessel, acquired with the participation of the Croatian company Jadrolinija, which remains a key partner of the Montenegrin carrier. The first flight from Bari is scheduled for July 1, after which the ship will run on the Bari – Bar route every week on Tuesdays, and in the opposite direction on Wednesdays. "Dalmacija" will be an attractive option for day trips: there are no cabins on board, but there are two restaurants with sea views, three bars, open decks and even a children's play area. Departure will be carried out at 11 a.m., which creates the format of a short sea cruise.
The cost of a one—way ticket is 78 euros, and a round-trip ticket is 144.40 euros. Reduced rates are provided for children, and separate rates are provided for vehicles. Detailed information, as well as the possibility of online booking, will be offered by the official website of the company and the agency Barska plovidba.
The old route, previously operated by the Sveti Stefan vessel, was an important connecting line between Italy and the region, but has been unstable in recent years. This time, the company's management is counting on the successful implementation of the project, thanks to low operating costs and a more flexible work model. In the future, the ship will be retrofitted with cabins, which will expand the range of services offered.
In addition, the Ancona–Bar–Durres line will be reopened from July 8 to September 8. It will once again be serviced by the Mia vessel, which can accommodate up to 1,528 passengers and has more than 2,000 m2 of garage space for cars and cargo. The ship is equipped with 197 cabins, including suites, cabins for passengers with pets and accessible cabins for people with disabilities. Passengers will have access to restaurants, a bar, a terrace with panoramic views, a children's area and a duty-free shop.
Mia will operate flights on an irregular schedule, several times a week. This format is especially convenient for travelers and drivers traveling to Western European countries: the opportunity to relax on a ship at night and arrive at a Bar in the morning makes the trip less tedious and more productive.
The reopening of these lines opens up new horizons for both passengers and entrepreneurs. The maritime link will strengthen the tourism and economic potential of the region, connecting it with the most important points in Italy and Albania, as well as expanding access to European markets for cargo transportation.
