Tourists from Switzerland and Hungary arrive in Montenegro on Orient Express-style trains
One of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Montenegro continues to attract foreign tourists
Recognizing the importance and untapped potential of the railway route in Montenegro, which with its attractiveness and numerous tourist attractions and national parks of our country in the immediate vicinity deserves attention, like well-known railways in Europe, the management of the railway transport of Montenegro in the previous period expressed interest and readiness to begin cooperation with The Ministry of Investment, the Railway Administration and other key institutions and foreign partners with the aim of introducing new tourism offers to Montenegro.
Thus, in addition to the German tourists who were our almost daily guests this season, tourists from Hungary and Switzerland these days arrived in Montenegro on special trains organized in cooperation with the railway transport of Montenegro AD Podgorica, attracted by the beauty and entertainment of the Belgrade - Bar line and especially the stretch between the bar and Kolasin, as well as the delights of train travel.
We are very pleased that, as we have previously stated, we now also confirm that rail transport is indeed becoming an important part of the tourism offer of Montenegro, which is why these days on the Montenegrin railway for the first time you can see passenger cars and carriages such as the Swiss “Train Bleu” “ and “Prestige Continental Express”, as well as “Continental Classic Express” of the Hungarian company “Continental railway solution” with locomotives of the Montenegrin railway transport at the head of the composition.
Namely, as a result of intensive cooperation and promotion of our company’s services, 09.20.2023. A special train entered Montenegro, carrying passengers through an eight-day journey from Geneva to Bar, 09/24/2023. a special train from Budapest to Bar also followed.
Retro compositions in the style of the Orient Express with passenger lounges and dining cars attracted attention during a trip to the bar, and foreign tourists spent a long time photographing the fabulous outposts in the north of Montenegro, the bridge on the small river, the Morace Canyon, Lake Skadar and the Adriatic Sea. Both trains 09/26/2023. from the bar she returned to her destinations, and on a special train, during a trip on the route Podgorica - Kolasin - Podgorica, a working lunch was organized with representatives of the railway transport of Montenegro, the Ministry of Investment, the Railway Administration, 16. In February, the hosts were representatives of the Continental Railway Solution from Hungary, Mr. Andras Szigeti and Mr. Attila Szeplaki.
Mr. Andras Szigeti, CEO of Continental Railway Solution, who warmly welcomed the guests, said: “Most importantly, we had the opportunity to meet colleagues from the railway sector and see how we can start a conversation about future ideas, and also a very good the idea is to, on this occasion, directly on the spot see at what time we can serve lunch or dinner along the route from Podgorica to Kolasin and back.Montenegro is a fairly developed tourist destination, but from the point of view of a tourist who is a fan of the railway, the railway line Bar Kolasin is not famous. I believe that a trip on the special train to Kolasin could be a year-round attraction, and the Bar - Kolasin railway could be as important a tourist destination as Mostar or Kotor, so it attracts tourists from all over the world. It is an ideal day trip or a half-day trip in both summer and winter, because the nature in the canyons is completely different during each season and always provides fantastic changes in the landscape, and also the goal is to start talking about creating a regular train service between Budapest or Bratislava to Bar. “
“I hope that today's event will be the beginning of a very good and successful future cooperation with the Hungarian Railway Company. What is really important for our society, although no less for the development of tourism in Montenegro, is that in these four days we showed the Hungarians that we can be a reliable partner, despite all the situations we face. What we are especially pleased with is their interest in creating a regular weekly queue on the Budapest-Bar route from spring 2024. These visits came at the very end of the tourist season, which, one might say, was not easy for us in the Society, but again successful, as we can see from today’s event. The numbers speak for themselves, we see this in the segments of the number of passengers carried, as well as total revenue, where we have clearly recorded an increase compared to previous years. Our goal in the coming period is to invest the funds provided to us under the loan
